If Komunal’s album isn’t enough for you to get that stoner metal fix, additional relief comes courtesy of Seringai, another quality band from Indonesia. The band is one of the scene’s most respected old hands. The album is packed with more quality hard riffs than most bands can handle. One song I hope becomes big is the extravagantly titled “Psikedelia Diskodoom,” an anthem just waiting for a revolution. The rest of the album gives you exactly what you need from the genre. You get songs aplenty about packing the mosh pit and getting high. The band shows off their thoughtful side on a few tracks, most notably on “Mengadili Persepsi (Bermain Tuhan)” about right-wing religious oppression. But this isn’t a thinking man’s metal album. You really just want this album for some boneheaded fun. Songs here are extremely well executed, groovy, crunchy and gut-wrenchingly heavy.
