Despite having such great big love for Naif, never in my wildest dreams would I expect them to come up with a new album, their fifth, that is this good. A great debut is quite normal. But a world class album as a fifth album? That’s the stuff that great bands are made of. And great bands rarely, if ever, crop up in this part of the world. Richly melodic, with supremely confident and assured songwriting and playing, there’s nothing they fear tackling. From 70’s disco/pop to The Who-like rockers to all sorts of pop variations from West Coast style pop to Teenage Fanclub-style Scottish pop, they tried them all and the results are all pure gold. This is simply a stone cold classic, that will surely stand heads and shoulders above everything else from this region this year. Simply unbelievable.
