Feedback Friday: How much are your local bands worth?

There are uproars, and there are UPROARS. And over the last week or so, we've been pretty amused over the latter kind that has surrounded the announcement of the lineup for Malaysia's Sunburst KL International Music Festival.

Of course, we're not saying it's not valid at all. Some people feel cheated, scammed, dissapointed, insulted, embarrassed, etc. But what we couldn't help noticing was that in the midst of all the 900+ groans, moans and F-word throws, no one really mentioned that this was a pretty stellar lineup of Malaysia's finest. Seriously, it would be difficult to find a festival roster with such a solid collection of local luminaries.

Which makes us wonder: How much are your local bands actually worth? In other words, how much would you pay to see the BEST of your country's bands play in one event? Each person has their own shortlist of what would constitute the best, of course. But let's assume you could come up with a festival made of the finest local acts in your highly esteemed opinion. How much would they be worth? Tell us!

sarloamd made a good point. what is it with the sad state of our sound system and sound guys sometimes? granted, some are really decent, but that's just a handful. maybe it's the indie way of doings things. HEHHEH.

the highest i had pay for the gig performance is rm35 n below
more than rm50 is like a waste of money because not all of them can perform well on stage
plus economy not good now days, why want to waste such money...
just my opinion :)

In the Sunburst case, the local artist is just like a scapegoat or a black sheep to be blamed by frustrated people out there...because they expected a lot higher for international acts to come here..not to say that the locals is not good, but people are dissapointed with empty promises :)

weh, aku ada puji tau!
aku tak kisah band international apa datang, tapi aku takkan lepaskan peluang tengok local band main dkt big festival like Sunburst, sebab aku sendiri hope to play at this kind of festival kalau bole.

and btw, Pineapple shouldnt let their ticket buyer/holder waiting and like this.

I don't mind paying RM100 - RM150 for normal gig at place like Planet Hollywood for band like Search or Wings, or RM200 for full scale concert at Istana budaya for these bands.

The problem with sun burst, as a few have mentioned earlier, is that, its is touted as an INTERNATIONAL festival. the hype was for INTERNATIONAL bands that have solid fanbase here.

Nothing sgt local bands only festival - thats why we have Rock the world and id gladly pay up to rm50 for a day festival.

granted there were some stupid remarks on that OTHER thread but the real gist is that many were dissapointed the hype was not lived up to.
