Malaysia’s Dizzy & The is the quirkily named project of two friends, poet Dizzyfirefly and Furniture keyboardist The Alia. Both girls sound very much at ease in their respective fields, resulting in a largely innocuous yet mildly confessional brand of poetry. Upon Alia’s plinking and Dizzy’s hushed whispers, the duo flutter across musings on the universe, loneliness and unattained love, straight from their secluded space to ours. Those unfamiliar with the unheralded realm of spoken word performers will get a decent introduction here while the more seasoned art farts might appreciate the juxtaposition of lyrical longing and musical restraint.
