SNM: Ducky Star

A quick glance of Ducky Star’s influences would give you a clue as to why she sounds the way she does: this is very much in Joanna Newsom/Quix*O*Tic oddball territory, albeit with way less vocals. The music of Ducky Star, the current incarnation of Shaz (who was previously known as Elegant Bachelor), is crafted from a variety of squeaky, happy electronic sounds that sound like a collection of toasters going on a picnic under a gay rainbow. What does this even mean? Well, you’ll just have to listen to find out, won’t you?

Ducky  Star will certainly not be everyone’s cup of tea, but she is a refreshing dose of quirky pop with whimsical abandon, if ingested in the right amounts. Check her out on MySpace.
