When two time Grammy Award winning DJ/producer/remixer Eric Kupper flew down to Kuala Lumpur to spin at Zouk, he remixed a special remix of Melissa Indot’s ‘Starlight’ off her debut album Eclecticism. Kupper and Indot rocked the stage together, as she sang live over his remix.

By having Kupper remix her song, Indot joins the hallowed ranks of celebs like Destiny’s Child, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, David Morales, Depeche Mode and David Bowie. As Indot said, “Working with Eric was truly unbelievable. He’s come up with some fantastic stuff, not to mention loads of Billboard number one hits, and to have him remix one of my songs is truly unbelievable!”

But how did the unexpected collabo come about? Kupper says: “The collaboration was initiated by my good friend Mark Doyle [head of Fierce Angel, creator of Hed Kandi]. He had me go to Melissa’s MySpace to listen to Starlight. I loved the song and I had an immediate flow of ideas for what I would do in a remix. I called Mark and said “let’s do it!” The rest is history,” explains Kupper.

These days, Kupper can be found at Pacha in London with Hed Kandi, and also tours around the world as an independent DJ or as the resident DJ of Hed Kandi and Fierce Angel. Indot herself is fairly new to the decks, but she’s landed herself a monthly gig at Zouk’s member-only bar, Aristo.

If you missed the show at Zouk though, look out for the next Fierce Angel compilation, Fierce Disco Remixed (22 June 2009) which of course will feature Melissa Indot!
