Director Zack Snyder says Watchmen: The Director’s Cut, which will feature 25 more minutes of violence and sex, will begin screening at selected cinemas across the states, in Dallas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and New York on 17 July. The re-release will lead up to the release of the extended cut Blu-ray DVD on 21 July, and will culminate in a screening at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Once it does come out on Blu-ray (which will be released with 300: The Complete Experience) you can access the BD Live feature on the disc to watch the film and Snyder engaging in a panel discussion at Comic-Con. Unless you’re really lucky and happen to be in the States next month, or are rich enough to fly up there just to watch the Watchmen, you might want to consider slapping down some hard, um, credit and pre-order the DVD, which you can do on Amazon. The DVD will also feature:
- "The Phenomenon: The Comic That Changed Comics" featurette
- 30 minutes of video journals
- 'Desolation Row' music video (My Chemical Romance)
- Digital Copy of the theatrical version
- "Real Super Heroes, Real Vigilantes" featurette (Blu-ray only)
- "Mechanics: Technologies Of A Fantastic World" featurette (Blu-ray only)
- 30 minutes of Watchmen focus points (Blu-ray only)
- Warner Bros. maximum movie mode (Blu-ray only)
But we have a feeling that most of you will find other means of obtaining this baby. Contrary to appearances, we are not your moral guardians, and your transgressions are your own. Excited? Frothing at the mouth? Apathetic? Thoughts below!
