Comprising Tariq, Rafique, Fadli and Abdul Muiz, new band I/Am/Rain from Malaysia play their own brand of melodic rock that's pleasing to the ears. Junk has a fiver with Rafique on–what else–a rainy day.
The band used to be named Simon the Fag before you changed it to I/Am/Rain. What gives?
"Simon the Fag" is a quote from the movie As Good As It Gets; I just loved that part of the movie. But we decided to change the band name because we thought Simon the Fag wasn’t serious enough as compared to our lyrics, which are quite serious stuff.
On your MySpace page, you've listed "Texas" as your location. Why?
The bands we love and draw our influences from like Mineral and The Gloria Record are from Texas.
What are I/Am/Rain’s future plans?
We started recording five songs and paused for a while because I was having exams. But once the recordings have been done, we plan to release them. We haven’t decided what format we want to release it as yet, but it'll probably be a mini EP in June or July. It depends on our financial state.
Tell us about the song featured on Junk’s compilation in June.
It’s about giving up, about having nothing to fight for anymore.

but the title isn't quite suitable enough as they played more like an emo genre kind of music, totally different from Hujan. their songs really put me alive especially when i'm at the most difficult and fucked up time. let's go sentimental!
they are really cool :)
