Penangite rap sensation Schizzow got in touch with us recently and told us about the release of his debut solo album, The Schizzowphrenic, which was launched at Rogue Squadron’s Bomb Shelter gig yesterday at Cloth & Clef! If you weren’t lucky enough to be there, you can watch the video for ‘Beautiful Imperfections’ right here (which Schizzow directed himself).
I've watched the video several times. So this is what I have to say bout the video :
- The video has a plot and that's a good thing. =)
- Plus, this video is directed by the artist himself. This is way better than Graffiti Greatness' VC. You should watch that. Lol.
What do I have to say bout the track?
The topic he chose for this track is very diverse from what other local rappers would do (you know, clubbing, girls, etc). This is something different. Maybe the lyrics are not there yet but I think Malaysia is not ready for this type of Hip-Hop yet. But it's a good thing to see a local rapper like Schizzow stepped up and made some changes in the scene. But he is better than Caprice though.
I respect Caprice. Yeah, I respect him as a businessman but not as a rapper. But Schizzow, he is a rapper. No, he's an emcee. Lol.
to caesar :
Beat-wise, Phrozt did a good job with this. The beat is monotonous? WTF? Were you expecting a bouncy beat for this track? The beat fits perfectly with the topic. What do you know about flow kid? Stop talking about flow. Obviously, you know nothing, but I respect you.
to i hate hip hop :
Orang Malaysia memang macam ni ke? x reti nak co-exist sama-sama? Bodoh.
p/s : ROTFL @ y'all....
@ N.E. Do you mean to imply that Souljah Boy is at one end of the hip-hop spectrum (the commerical, mainstream, brainless end), whislt Schizzow is at the other (subversive, sophisticated, underground), or are you suggesting that a full appreciation of Schizzow's lyrics requires a maturity and intellect not available to Souljah Boy's fans?
In Jom Makan, track three on the album, doesn't Schizzow rhyme "rice" with "nice"? Is he being postmodern? Tongue-in-cheek? Perhaps I'm not sophisticated enough to tell.
I'm all for supporting local artists, but, in order to improve, they need feedback and criticism as well as praise. Leave the cheerleading to Schizzow's mum, and do him the favour of an honest review.
Just dont take these anonymous hypo comments seriously.. Just make things happen and bring back your investment. Weird to hear rockers that r willing to read this post and give comments. Hope those underage kids in the video are not allowed to surf into Junk website. :P
oh dear, not another crap rap/hip hop tune..fuck hip hop..bunch of poyo poseurs
Yo chill guys. I'd like to believe that everybody is entitled to their own opinion and views on every issue, and say what they want. After all, that is what the "comment" sections are for right? Anyway, no matter if you like or dislike this video, thank you for taking your time to check it out nevertheless, and also for giving the feedback and comments. It's all good.
If you like what you hear, then cop The Schizzowphrenic album for only RM20!
Cheers! :D
shit man, y'all can't take criticism :)
can't comment musically (references not wide enough, but @caesar made a damn good point), but the video is amateurish (both creatively, and production value, not the acting lah).
Ha ha discussion has gone from music to character dissing.
I am giving Shizzow an A for effort. Other than that, I don't think telling how his music shud sound like will get thru.
The way I see it, local artists needs support to the point of cheerleading. Most artists I know have got limited resources and struggles to pull things together and make things happen(I don't know if thats the case for Shizzow). I'm saying, we can't expect every artist to put out music as good international acts. But I'm optimistic that they(with perseverance, support and some luck) will eventually get there.
As cliche as it sounds, support la local acts.
Is this a Junk readers demographic research?

If you two dumasses understand Malay, you'd realize he made a decent argument. Plus, it'd make you look less stupid over the net too.
