At the end of this month, Singapore emo-rock upstarts The Fire Fight will launch their debut Henri. The release is a concept album of sorts, trailing the journey of Henri the Bear as he wanders through the city of Elemenopee (L-M-N-O-P, geddit? Hyuk hyuk...).
Of course, a concept album is no concept album without good concept artwork (or maybe it is, but ummm... it shouldn't be!). And so for Henri, the band have enlisted Plainsunset's Jon Chan to offer some pastel sketches to give the songs an added visual dimension. And we've got some of the art to show you what can be expected. To up the ante, we've even offered our own interpretations of the art. Because, y'know, we're so brilliant and arty like that.
So...
Once upon a time, there was a bear named Henri. Henri loved purple.
One day, Henri decided that purple was too un-bear for him. So he decided to get out of his bed and walk. And suddenly...
He realised that even the frickkin' skies are purple. And that the architects behind Elemenopee have some serious animal issues.
Actually, they've got serious issues all round. And they like Jenga.
Thankfully, he met someone. He looked like Rasputin from behind. Or maybe Lady Gaga in pajamas.
But then that someone turned out to have no eyeballs. And he kidnapped Henri. And at this point, while sitting in his prison cell, Henri thought, "I knew I should have stayed away from weed."
Suddenly, Henri woke up. He was free! He was also naked. And the skies were still purple. Oh, the perils of being a bear.
THE END
What's your interpretation of the album artwork? Tell us below!
