A while back we let you peer behind the scenes at our TLG photoshoot. Now we have for you a behind the scenes look at our shoot with Loops Collective, the mega drum ‘n’ bass and breakbeat family. They’re the DJs, MCs, VJs, producers and graffiti artists behind the Take Off Records label; the Choons Awards, Malaysia’s first dance awards show; and some of the biggest dance shows in the region.
We couldn’t assemble them all—Loops is that large—but it was fun nonetheless. Our legendary art director Shermen took the reins on this one, stacking the Loops folk against this fragmented wall (80s architecture for ya) we found near CapSquare in KL. We couldn’t point the exact location out on a map for you if we tried, but it's thereabouts.
With the sun being as stupidly oppressive as a tinpot dictator once again, plus the beers and coffees ingested beforehand, we once again contrived to make an already difficult job even harder (you try organising/directing a shoot), because we had to fight against time: we had to wrap things up before someone could think that maybe home, air-conditioning and more beer/coffee would be a better idea. But the gods smiled upon us; and plopped a prop from the heavens! We found a back alley that led to us to this beat up Proton Wira with doors ripped out.
