This is like the scene in Independence Day where the alien spaceship hovers above the White House. Only it’s not the White House, but the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and it’ll be the geekiest of geeks descending instead of aliens (not very different then). The Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention 2009 (STGCC) will take place next month, and fanboys can make their pilgrimage to the island state to catch the latest in toys, comics, animation, gaming, design, licensing and cosplay!
Taking place from 14 to 16 August, the STGCC will see the best international and local creative minds gather together at one singular mother lode of an event. Highlights include the Walk Of Fame, a meet and greet session with luminaries like Brian Bolland (the legendary artist who's done covers for comics like Batman and Tank Girl), artist and urban vinyl hero Gary Baseman, comic penciller and inker Tan Eng Huat (Batman, Ghost Rider), and toymaker Joe Ledbetter. The Conference Sessions gives you a chance to hear talks by the likes of filmmaker Eric Khoo, and representatives from Kidrobot and LEGO. The Butter Factory, Official Club Partner of the convention, will also host exclusive after-parties with more meet and greets and live mural drawing sessions.
