Fort Canning Park was packed out with what organisers LAMC estimated as a 10,000-strong crowd. People queued up as early as 4pm to score their coveted front row spots. It has to be said that the crowd at Fort Canning Park was the best dressed we had ever seen. Girls rocked up with Gaga-esque outfits with enough glitter to make Liberace jealous.

Singapore’s three-time DMC champion DJ Inquisitive did his best to keep concertgoers entertained while they waited for Lady Gaga, whose flight was delayed. Nearly an hour later after she was scheduled to perform, the lights dimmed and the playback of Gaga’s ‘Who Shot Candy Warhol’ opening video skit rolled. Then the stage sheet dropped and Lady Gaga–clad in a dissected disco ball outfit–rose from "her fortress" and proceeded to go straight into 'Paparazzi'. At the end of the chorus, the fortress panels started moving to choreographed positions, revealing three male backup dancers. They brought so much energy to an already intense show as the 23-year-old Gaga commanded the stage with her entertaining theatrics and suggestive hand gestures.
The show seemed virtually seamless, utilising fast transitions with amusing video skits and quick wardrobe changes (four in total). The top-notch sound was icing on the cake, especially when Gaga brought out a see-through piano filled with bubbles for the acoustic portion of her set. While most are familiar with her piano-playing antics from TV appearances, it’s nothing like watching it live. It’s definitely the part of the show where Gaga gets to show off her artistry and her musical training.
In between songs she offered her own words of wisdom like, “Don’t forget to follow your dreams Singapore, and always be yourself.” She later added, “You know what you can tell them when they tell you that you’re not right…? You can tell them that Lady Gaga said to fuck off!” She must have been well-acquainted with Singapore’s trademark chilli crabs as she raved on about it several times throughout the show. Word is she even went out for some late night chilli crab supper after her show.
Gaga bowed out for the night with her monster hit 'Poker Face' and left us wanting more. Even the monstrous chants for an encore didn’t help as Gaga lined up with her band and dancers, and bid Singapore goodbye.
If Singapore’s reception to “this generation's Madonna” is any indication, Gaga will definitely be back as she promised, and most likely playing to an even bigger crowd.
