Righto. We're gonna do this step by step, since we're feeling our way around as well.
First: Gundu means "fat" in Tamil. Make of that what you will.
Second: Take your own band's song, head over to this page on the Gundu site, download the software (it's an .exe from NCH), cut your song into a 30 second clip, and upload it HERE. And BAM! Your callback tone is created!
Third: If your callback tone is popular enough, you get paid RM1.75 for each download. This is how money is made, boys and girls. Remember this?
Fourth: The top five most downloaded callback tones will stand a chance to play at the Gundu Stage To Fame Concert. As of 2 November 2009, the 12 most popular bands are: Sugar Love Cookies, The Divine Masters, Auburn, Flossy, Angelika, News at 11, PureVibracion, Secret Violet, Predicate Not Defined, Abstrak Hingga Ke Bulan, Projek Pistol and Zip Zieller.
Fifth: Now, whether or not your band becomes rich and/or gets to play at the concert in December, attendance is compulsory. Why? Only some of the biggest names in Malaysian music will be there, like Hujan, MonoloQue (the bearded Butterfingers offshoot), Azlan & The Typewriter (that's the ex-Meet Uncle Hussain Azlan) and Restraint! Click HERE for the concert details.
Sixth: Even if you don't attend, and decide not to partake in all of the above, Gundu is a valuable resource for a) finding some fine ass new Malaysian bands, and b) getting your own fine ass band out there.
Hope we got all the info right. If we didn't, leave a comment and let us know. Of course, if you want it explained less turgidly, head over to the Gundu website and the Gundu Stage To Fame Concert Facebook page.
Hey, that was interesting,
Great way to make a bit of money..
