So, you lucky 1000 people who went to watch Kris Allen last night probably enjoyed yourselves, right? From the amount of shrill fangirl (and sometimes fanboy) screaming Junk heard last night at Kris' first concert on our shores, you couldn't have NOT enjoyed yourselves.
The reigning American Idol was definitely easy on the eyes to our female counterparts, causing us to have plug our ears several times during the performance, which was disappointingly short at only six songs, including an encore.

The event organisers let people in on time, however, there was a long wait for emcees of the night, JJ and Ean from Hitz.FM, to show up on-stage and entertain the crowd with their banter while the crew soundchecked behind them. Throwing T-shirts into the crowd and inciting sing-a-longs went over well, though in the background 'No Boundaries' had been playing insufferably on repeat for the past hour.
And finally, Kris appeared on-stage. The crowd surged forward, screaming their lungs out in high-pitched fervour. The diminutive American Idol tapped his dead mic, smiling affably while the band allowed static to ring. As the mic came alive, Kris started his short set to the limited amount of people who were allowed into his show that night. Blazing through tracks from his new album like 'Red Guitar' and the current single 'Live Like We're Dying', it definitely was a great performance with a very tight band backing up.

Still, we couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. The set was short, the real hardcore fans were barricaded away from the stage by a mile, and while his performance certainly wasn't lacking musically, we couldn't help but feel Simon's criticism rang true - Kris is undoubtably a nice guy with good looks and a great singing voice, but nonetheless he doesn't have that sass, a personality that can capture people's attention the moment he walks into a room.

He certainly caught everyone's attention the moment he walked into the room! At least, for those up in front la (ie me). he actually tried to crowd surf in the last song.. he looked like he was really enjoying himself! We all could feel his energy.
