Esplanade sets the scene for three days of musical mayhem from 29 to 31 August with performances at the Nokia Arena (Outdoor Theatre), Nokia Powerhouse, Chillout Stage (Concourse) and Observation Deck (Esplanade Library).
On the international front, highlights include Aussie rockers Jebediah, US synth-pop outfit Joy Electric , UK power trio Transition and cult indie pop heroes The Lucksmiths from Melbourne.
The wealth of talent in the region is showcased with sets from Thailand’s Abuse the Youth (indie metal), Indonesia’s Agrikulture (electronic rock) and Elemental Gaze (shoegaze), Phillippines’ Faspitch (emo/hardcore) and Typecast (alt rock), Malaysia’s Deserters (indie rock) and The Otherside Orchestra (dance rock), Hong Kong’s My Little Airport (indie pop) and Taiwan’s The Shine&Shine&Shine&Shine (electronic pop).
Local Singaporeans will be represented by Çaracal (emo rock), Electrico (indie rock), Force Vomit (rock), The Lilac Saints (alt rock), The Oddfellows (alt rock) and Vertical Rush (indie/emo).
Baybeats also serves as a platform to develop up-and-coming bands, and this year there will be a showcase of 11 homegrown talents. Selected from a series of rigorous auditions are none other than AnnaJudgeApril, Another Epic Story, Cardinal Avenue, Leeson, Midnight Marvel, Morning Utopia, PeepShow, Silhouette, Sourgrapes, The Oslo Castaways, and You and Whose Army?.
