Turntable Tuesday: Twilight Actiongirl

Malaysian indie rock and electro DJs Twilight Actiongirl have been getting teary-eyed of late. Their home away from home, The Loft at Zouk KL, is as good as gone come September as the whole of Zouk undergoes a much-anticipated refurbishment that will see the club offering a slew of smaller spaces to cater to KL's ever-growing, bar-loving night owls.

Come October, the new Zouk unveils itself with a bunch of intimate bars upstairs at the Mainroom while The Loft will morph into Bar Sonic–all with new musical concepts, theme nights and DJs. Twilight Actiongirl (TAG) nights will still be the favourite mainstay at Zouk albeit shifting to a new residence and as we wait with baited breath on the outcome, we have an online chat with DJ Bunga of Twilight Actiongirl to find out his thoughts on their "new home".

april: hello bunga! watup! so it's tag's last friday at the loft... how do you feel?
bunga: sad really...we've been in the loft for 4 years now, longer than most relationships… but i guess everything has an end and a beginning
april: a new beginning is good, it could be a rebirth. any inkling of what the new room at zouk will be like?
bunga: all i know is it's bigger and we have to make more bar sales or the club will whip us and exile us to triang
april: er.. triang?
bunga: it's the world famous hometown of our tag comrade, xu
april: wah my geography failz.. in perak right…
bunga: correct correct correct
april: after the reno, do you guys have new plans to evolve your nights or introduce more exciting themes & guests?
bunga: guess so... funny theme nights are not really our thing, we're too old haha, but guests definitely. most prob our friends and cronies, but hey this is malaysia right?
april: believe me, it happens everywhere… so what are you anticipating for this friday’s jumaat terakhir bash?
bunga: lots and lots of people being emo, including the djs themselves. talking abt it makes me teary-eyed already
april: aw.. *pat pat* so wut gets you the most teary-eyed?
bunga: the usual - fluffy animals, the bold and the beautiful, emo bands like my chemical romance…
april: er, i was talking about tag…
bunga: oh that, haha… i guess saying goodbye to the loft. it's been good to us and i think we've been good to the loft too... bar ciggie burns and rowdy ppl standing up on the sofas
april: good times… will you guys be playin old stuff this friday to pay tribute ala early days of tag?
bunga:

april: sabar la tu... on tag’s facebook page there is a mention about a beer tub.. shall we all come in bikinis then?
bunga: come and be surprised. who knows, you might even find chaseylain in a bikini
april: in that case we will bring cameras. but wut about dj bunga?
bunga: how can you ask me? i'm a mormon, i have standards of decency, unlike the other decadent members of tag
april: er, right... so any last words of wisdom to "tag"gers everywhere?

Twilight Actiongirl celebrates their last Friday playing at The Loft, Zouk KL on 29 August. At last count, over 600 people RSVPed as "attending" on their Facebook page.
