Singapore's three-day alternative music festival, Baybeats, has been pulling in audiences by the thousands since its inception in 2002. Held at the Esplanade, this year's fest showcased local, regional and international acts on four stages–the Nokia Arena, Nokia Powerhouse, Chillout Stage and Observation Deck–from 29 to 31 August.
Besides The Lucksmiths and Jebediah from Australia, Joy Electric from the US and Transition from the UK, a host of Singapore bands played alongside Malaysia's The Otherside Orchestra and Deserters, Hong Kong's My Little Airport & The Shine&Shine&Shine&Shine, Thailand's Abuse The Youth, Indo's Elemental Gaze, and the Philippines' Faspitch and Typecast. The local bands showed their own musical force with the likes of Leeson, Electrico, The Analog Girl, The Lilac Saints and The Oddfellows becoming crowd favourites.
