WTF Wednesday: Onstage disasters

Everything that makes headlines today will always have a YouTube clip, of which we're thankful for. Today we bring you some of the more notable onstage disasters extracted from Nme.com for your viewing pleasure!

Amy Winehouse
Last June at the Glastonbury Festival, Amy Winehouse lashed at a member of the audience by punching the dude for thinking he threw a hat at her beehive of hair.

Katy Perry
Katy Perry recently had a humiliating ordeal at the MTV Latin American Awards in Mexico after performing 'I Kissed A Girl' when she dived atop a giant cake. After repeated attempts to leave the stage while slipping on the icing, she gave up, and crawled off stage on her hands and knees.

Metallica
In 1992 while the long mane still ruled for Metallica, frontman James Hetfield misinterpreted a stage cue and wound up standing right in the middle of a pyrotechnic explosion. Hetfield suffered severe second and third degree burns to his left arm. He now has a tattoo on his left arm with a picture of flames encasing four playing cards as a reminder.

Guns 'N Roses
In 1991, angered by a fan using a video camera at a gig at the Riverport Amphitheater in Missouri, singer Axl Rose jumped into the audience, then called an end to the gig. In the ensuing riot, several people were injured.

Panic at the Disco
Panic at the Disco's main stage performance at the Reading Festival 2006 began with frontman Brendon Urie getting struck in the face by a bottle thrown from the crowd. However, after a few minutes he was able to carry on with the set. “You can’t take me out,” Urie shouted to the crowd before adding, “Lets see how well you guys do with my left side.”

50 Cent
50 Cent's performance at the Reading Festival 2004 lasted just over 20 minutes. The rapper was pelted with bottles, cups and at one point, a deckchair hurled from the crowd. He responsed by hurling his microphone to the crowd and storming off. Some peeps just have no respect for a brotha.

Beyonce
Beyonce's image as an impossibly glamorous r 'n' b diva took a knock in July 2007 when she fell during a performance in Orlando, Florida. The vocalist tripped over on some steps and went sprawling. The footage has been viewed over three million times on YouTube.

Nirvana
Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic embarrassed himself at the 1993 MTV VMA Awards. Near the conclusion of the group's performance of 'Lithium', Krist threw his guitar into the air, only to have it hit him squarely on the head on its descent. He fell to the ground and crawled offstage while the rest of the band played on.
