Yuna
(Independent)
Underrated and underexposed, Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna deserves a lot more ink for her touchingly honest songs, delivered with that golden voice. While this debut five-song EP may lack the confessional and intimate feel of her guitar and voice demos, it makes up for it in more fleshed out band arrangements and an enviable clarity of sound. 'Dan Sebenarnya' sounds like a radio hit in the making, while 'Blue Sands' and 'Backpacking Around Europe' sounds tailor-made for The OC or The Hills. The only slight disappointment is 'Deeper Conversation', which sounds more deeply felt in her home demo.

she has great voice(though sounds like copying norah jones, feist etc style), but sadly her lyrics aren't poetic... which sucks..
her ep has few songs; another turn-off.
my fave song so far is rocket.. which u can hear on her myspace
I disagree Aidil, 'Deeper Conversation' is the only song in the EP which did linger in my ears as compared to the rest.
The production of the song was simple and not over done, just the way Yuna should sound; honest, minimalist.
'Deeper Conversation' is a single on FLY FM, no?
Have to agree with Aisyah with 'Rocket', i was hoping that song would be re-produced for studio quality.
i dont really pay attention to local bands..
I honestly think that Yuna deserved the good review.
However she should sing more in Malay, because that is where her strenght is, rather than just sounding as a Feist and Norah John wannabe..
As for now, Yuna thanks for the beautiful music:)
Cheers!
