Switchfoot's Jon Foreman forms new band, offers free download

Meet Fiction Family, the new side project of Jon Foreman, Switchfoot's, err, fore man. It seems like the guy just isn't fully happy plugging surfer rock to the masses. So in addition to his solo EPs and charity work, he's decided to join forces with Sean Watkins, guitarist for now-defunct bluegrass band Nickel Creek, and form a new band that scoops its sound from both of the boys' original bands.

The band has just released a self-titled debut, which features both guys playing all the instruments and taking turns to sing lead vocals. And to get a taste of the band, they've offered the song 'When She's Near' as a free download for anyone who signs up for the band's newsletter.
