In our first ever Junksounds Awards where we highlight some of the best artists, bands and music to come out of the South East Asian region in the year 2008, the Filipinos have come out on top! Surprising? Not when the Pinoys have got the backing of some of the most passionate and supportive fans in their home state, and beyond.
Gathering a team of music veterans around the region, JUNK got down to shortlisting some of the best in music in countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines, and then proceeded to let our readers vote for their favourites from October to November 2008.
We received over 10,000 votes from residents from these five countries, including those from Asia and other parts of the world. We’d like to congratulate all the winners of our inaugural Junksounds Awards 2008 and all the people who voted like crazy for their favourite acts!

Junk should come with a better voting system that can reach everyone in the music scene. Not just some internet users and polls that is useless and pointless!
I think Telebury shouldve won the award.

What was the voting distribution by country like? Seems like it's a mechanism/awareness issue if the voting population is primarily Filipino. And if so, what does it say about regional representativeness in Junksounds 2008?
