Behold the 2008 winners of our Junksounds Awards and we're giving a phat nod to our brothers and sisters up north (aka Philippines). The Pinoys are representing in a huge way especially in the music scene and it showed when it came time for JUNK to pluck out the scenesters shaking up the industry in South East Asia (in major countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines). It was the Filipinos that dominated almost every category hands-down. Also check our interviews with German electro-tech producer Boys Noize while Tom Simpson of Snow Patrol talks about his love for Ghost Busters. We also have a chat with Indonesia's White Shoes & The Couples Company and Jay-Z's deck star Neil Armstrong (not the astronaut).

Malaysian post-punk band Killeur Calculateur reckon their music to "Chucky sniffing glue while listening to Daughters" while Australian math rockers My Disco are convinced they've invented a new genre: Super Eno Rock. We get the exclusive on They Will Kill Us All's brand new EP, chat with Simian Mobile Disco, and dance like no one's watching to Jens Lekman and Malaysia's first ever Silent Disco.

Junk Music Compilation
We think you're gonna be pretty pleased with this month's compilation. Since the Filipinos have dominated the Junksounds Awards 2008, it's only natural that we chucked in tracks from a few of the winning acts like influential rock band Typecast, all-girl band Nyctinasty, rock-monster-of-a-band Faspitch and hip hop MC D-Coy. We also throw in some bonus tracks by music makers like Telephony Delivery and Pesawat from Malaysia.
